College of Nursing Brings Christmas to Three Local Families
Monday, November 30th, 2015
For more than 25 years the College of Nursing has partnered with the Thea Bowman House to brighten the holidays for local families. 'Bowman House' provides quality care to some of our community's most vulnerable children and youth in the hope of breaking the cycle of poverty through a structured program of educational and social enrichment. Three families that participate in the Bowman House' childcare program will be the beneficiaries of this season's "Be An Angel" program.
Since the Thanksgiving break, the Giving Tree – decorated with paper stars – has been the focal point of this year's activities. Members of the College community have been picking stars that are labeled with the name of a child and their gift 'wish' from the tree. Once participants in the "Angel" project have done their shopping, they place their wrapped and labeled gift under the tree. Representatives of the College community will deliver the gifts to the adopted families right before Christmas.
